"The studio where NIRVANA recorded part of 'NEVERMIND' has been demolished in a freak accident involving a 10-tonne truck. Smart Studios, in Madison, Wisconsin, were ruined last week when the truck veered off the road after hitting a car at a busy junction near the complex. The studio, owned by Garbage drummer and producer Butch Vig, has seen a succession of greats pass through its doors. Nirvana went into the studio in April 1990 and recorded for a week with Vig at the controls. 'Polly' came out of the sessions." Story courtesy of NME.

In a VH-1 "50 Greatest Album Covers" special, Nirvana's Nevermind was ranked as #3. In other news, on the new Limp Bizkit album Results May Vary there is one song mentioning Kurt Cobain. The track Creamer (Radio Is Dead) features the lyric "Memory that can ease your pain / Like a melody from Kurt Cobain / Cause ya never know when it's all gonna end". Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst also has a large tattoo of Cobain on his chest. The new Limp Bizkit album will hit the stores tomorrow.

The documentary, "The Nevermind Year", which has previously been mentioned here a number of times, is now finished. It will be featured on the 23rd Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, Canada on the 18th of September at 9:35 PM. The Kurt Cobain inspired documentary will be making its world premiere at the festival. "Told from the perspective of aging Nirvana fan, Steven James May, 'The Nevermind Year' explores May's attempt to achieve what his anti-hero Kurt Cobain could not: live to see his 28th birthday." In the latest issue of Rolling Stone (RS #931 - September 18, 2003), their cover story "100 Greatest Guitarists" features Kurt Cobain as #12. The list is topped by Jimi Hendrix: "It's the list that launched a thousand arguments: David Gilmour's too low! Kirk Hammett's too high! Who's Hubert Sumlin? (You really owe it to yourself to find out.) Here they are, the hundred guitarists that the rock world couldn't live without, complete with each one's essential work." Last week's MTV Video Music Awards featured a closing performance by Metallica - playing a medley celebrating the 20th anniversary of the annual award show. The medley featured the band jamming on signature tunes from the past twenty years - including Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, Are You Gonna Go My Way by Lenny Kravitz and Beat It by Michael Jackson. The band then launched into Frantic - their latest single.
