NFC News Foo Fighters joined by Krist for secret show |
From Rolling Stone: Fans got the next best thing to a Nirvana reunion Tuesday night when the band's three surviving members performed together for the first time since Kurt Cobain passed away. The occasion was the encore for a barely announced, impromptu Foo Fighters concert at Paladinos, a Tarzana, California dive bar better known for "Live Band Karaoke Every Tuesday" than historic rock events. The only thing more unlikely than seeing the Foo Fighters play outside an arena was the sight of Krist Novoselic joining former Nirvana tour guitarist/current Foo Fighter Pat Smear and head Foo Dave Grohl onstage. The trio played one song "Marigold," the non-album b-side of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box," with Grohl both singing lead and reverting to his Nirvana role behind the drums to an audience which included Amanda Seyfried, Juliette Lewis, Ryan Phillippe and No Doubt's Tony Kanal alongside hardcore fans pulled in from the band's Facebook page. NFC News Aberdeen Art Show currently showing |
Currently showing at the Aberdeen Timberland Library in Aberdeen, Washington, is a one-person show by the artist Robert Hunter. The show is entitled "Visual Stories as told through paintings and collage". Mr. Hunter was Kurt Cobain's high school art teacher from 1983 to 1985. He remembers Kurt as one of his most creative and innovative students. As a remembrance to Kurt and his visual as well as musical talent, an arts scholarship was established in his name in 1994 and administered by Mr. Lamont Shillinger and Bob Hunter for over ten years at Aberdeen High School. As part of "Visual Stories", a photo-montage of Kurt called "The Legend of Kurt Cobain" was completed by Mr. Hunter and included in the series of painted stories. This piece has recently sold but can be viewed here, along with the other works of art in the show. All pieces are for sale and a percentage of the sales go to the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee to help build a badly needed youth center in Kurt's home town of Aberdeen. |
