Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee presents a benefit concert

The Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee is announcing its first-ever benefit concert, Lounge Acts 2007, scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, at the historic 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam, Wash. The show is open to all ages. The fundraising event features seven high-quality rock bands from across the state. The lineup includes Jed, The Whore Moans, Don’t Even Know (DEK), Black Top Demon, Bench Grinder, The Bimm Quaid and Clouded Minds.

Several bands will include a cover of a favorite Nirvana song in their setlist. Prize drawings will be held throughout the evening, including merchandise donated from all the bands involved and local merchants. The featured prize is a print-size, 28-by-22-inch painting of Kurt Cobain on quality canvas painted by Grays Harbor artist Jeremy Fry. Many more sponsors have donated gifts, as well, and exciting surprises are being added daily.

Cincinnati-based graphic artist Brian Methe, who has worked with the Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, Modest Mouse, Chris Cornell and numerous others, is designing the event’s limited-edition concert poster.

Tickets are $10 in advance and available from this website and at Rosevear’s in Aberdeen. Cost at the door is $15.
