Written by Franziska: The documentary "Marketing And Nirvana" which was aired on German television May 20th is originally called "The Target Shoots First" and is made by Cristopher Wilcha. It is basically a documentary in the style of "Kurt And Courtney," with a guy walking around with his small camera. He just graduated from university or something and starts working at Columbia House, a record club. There are just a few references to Nirvana, for example when he reads out a part of "Come As You Are" (the movie had subtitles and they even translated the title of the book into "Komm Wie Du Bist") about Don Cobain having been subscribed to Columbia House. The guy was responsible for the alternative section of the club later (it was around 93/94). The documentary also includes the time around Kurt's death. The guy got a phone call by some manager asking if they could change something in their alternative catalogue, like "blabla Kurt Cobain" to "the late Kurt Cobain". The fucker then said "So that, you know, we could cash in on it", or something like that. The end is that the guy quits the job and gets a letter from them a year later featuring a catalogue with a photo of him in it as commercial, because they are allowed to use his picture forever without paying him anything. I would say part of the message of that movie was 'corporate record clubs still suck,' hehe.
