More support for John Kerry: "Foo Fighter frontman (and former Nirvana
sticksman) Dave Grohl is one of many musicians (and actors) taking part in a special live
show set out to act as a support/fundraising event for US Democrat presidential candidate John
Kerry. Grohl will be playing the gig at the Music Box Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood Los
Angeles on July 6. Also appearing on the bill are Liz Phair and Jack Black's legendary rock
outfit Tenacious D. Alongside Green Day, Bad Religion, Yellowcard and No Doubt, the Foo
Fighters recently donated a cover of the Angry Samoans song 'Gas Chamber' for the 'Rock
Against Bush Vol. 2' album which is expected to be released this August." News courtesy of XFM Online.
The latest news from the crazy world of Courtney Love:
"Courtney Love surrendered to police Friday [June 11] for allegedly assaulting
a 32-year-old woman with a liquor bottle at the home of her former manager,
authorities said. Love, 39, was booked on a felony charge of assault with
a deadly weapon. She posted $55,000 bail and was released. Prosecutors have
said the charge stems from an April 25 incident at the Los Angeles home of
former manager Jim Barber. She is scheduled to appear in court July 9 for
arraignment." Story courtesy of AP.
I've recently posted a couple of articles on how Kurt's hometown of Aberdeen
is trying to pay tribute to Cobain. Here is an article from VH-1 with more info:
Ten Years Later, Kurt Cobain's Hometown Decides To Pay Tribute.

Nirvana-related: Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl hung out with British rockers
Ash at the Sound City Studios in Los Angeles. Ash recorded their newest album, 'Meltdown',
where 12 years ago 'Nevermind' was recorded. Says Ash singer Tim Wheeler:
"Twelve years ago I was getting their autographs, and now Dave Grohl's hanging out in the studio
with us. He didn't play real drums, but he did play some air drums. He seemed to enjoy himself.".

The excellent book "Be More Chill" by Ned Vizzini came out on June 1st. Ned will do a reading
tomorrow (June 15) at Barbes in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. It begins at 7 PM. There will
also be a book party happening on June 23 at the Knitting Factory in New York, NY. Here's a
brief summary of what the book is about: "Jeremy Heere is convinced that
people are born Cool: 'See, because being Cool is obviously the most important thing on earth…
It's more important than getting a job, or having a girlfriend, or political power, or money,
because all those things are predicated by Coolness.' And he hasn't got it. Every day he
yearns hopelessly for beautiful Christine. Then, one day he gets a squip--a tiny quantum
supercomputer that looks like a little gray capsule and when swallowed becomes a voice in
his head instructing him in the ways of Cool. Soon, every gril he admires is his--including
Christine. But when the squip turns malevolent in its merciless pursuit of the goal, Jeremy
begins to realize that Cool is not as cool as he thought it was." You can order the
book here.
