A newspaper called The Spokesman-Review recently published an
article about Krist Novoselic's new book and his political work.
The article also details a book signing Krist did this past Monday
at Auntie's Bookstore in Spokane, Washington. At the singing he
also read excerpts from the book and spoke about political work.
'I'm arguing for more democracy, but what I'd
like to see is a reinvention. And the analogy that I bring up is
that once music becomes predictable and a formula to sustain the
establishment, people stop buying music, they tune out, they become
cynical,' Novoselic said from his home outside of Naselle,

Paul Anka, of all people, has made a cover of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit.
This version is obviously ... quite different from the original and can
best be described as a sort of jazz version of the song. It is included with
Anka's new album Rock Swings which was just released. It also includes
covers of classic songs by R.E.M., Soundgarden, Van Halen and The Cure among

Apparently, Paul Anka also performed the cover on David Letterman a few days ago.

"An early track by the Swedish death metal legends Unleashed was the basis
of an unreleased Nirvana song that was close to appearing on the band's 'With The Lights Out'
box set, ex-Nirvana drummer/current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl revealed to Sweden's Close-Up
magazine during a recent interview, reports Blabbermouth.net. 'You know what's funny?! I can't remember
which Unleashed song I did. It was 'Onward Into Countless Battles' [of 1992's 'Shadows In The Deep'],'
Grohl said. 'This was in 1991 or 1992 and Nirvana were in Brazil and we had this studio for the day.
Nobody was there, so I took this riff and recorded it on my own. It was close to going on the Nirvana
boxset, but I was like, 'No, no, no, that's an Unleashed song, you can't use that!' It would have been
really funny. It was that close.' Back in 2002, Grohl revealed to Close-Up that he contemplated approaching
Unleashed frontman Johnny Hedlund to contribute lead vocals to one of the songs for his Probot metal project,
but changed his mind after learning of the Swedish death metal vocalist's rumored Nazi leanings. 'I love Unleashed's
music — it's fucking cool,' Grohl told the magazine. '[But] one of the guys involved [in putting the Probot
record together], Matt Sweeney [who is credited as being the album's executive producer and 'riff consultant'—ed.],
pointed out that [Johnny] wouldn't be appropriate for this.' " Story courtesy of Blabbermouth. Until
now, the song has been referred to as "Meat" by Nirvana fans. It was in fact recorded in January 1993 at a
studio in Rio, Brazil. Most of the session was indeed released on last year's box set.
